It was a disappointing result at Tauherenikau for First Gear. The stable went in with the expectation of a return to form, but the performance was average and leaves plenty to consider regarding his future.

The track was rated a Soft 5. While he has handled similar conditions previously, he never seemed to find his rhythm. The ride did not go to plan; the instructions were to jump and trail to give him every opportunity, but the execution left the team frustrated at the top of the straight.

Options under consideration include gear changes, specifically adding blinkers, and a potential change of rider. Ultimately, it was a tough watch for investors and supporters alike.
